Nicolas Hanson March 22, 2017 Share March 22, 2017 I'm working with the latest Avid (8.6.x) and I've noticed that AMA is replaced with a source browser. Maybe that happened a long time ago, but I usually get handed transcoded MXF files made in DaVinci. Anyway, how do I import/transcode r3D files? When trying to "link" it says "cannot be linked" so I'm a bit lost.
Bruno Mansi March 25, 2017 Share March 25, 2017 You'll need the Red AMA plugin. See the following article from Avid... http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Download/en394823
Nicolas Hanson March 25, 2017 Author Share March 25, 2017 Thank you Bruno! Thought that was for previous versions as Avid doesn't use the AMA name inside the software anymore.
Bruno Mansi March 25, 2017 Share March 25, 2017 They've renamed it to 'Link to..' but it's still using the AMA plugins to provide support for the codec. The browser is another way of looking at your media and provides drag and drop linking/importing to your bins. Have a look at this YouTube video for details on how to use it.
