Nicolas Hanson August 23, 2016 Share August 23, 2016 We're establishing a DNxHD workflow and I'm about to deliver a project to an Avid Symphony editor for finishing. Should I deliver MXF OP-Atom and MXF OP1a? What is the difference?
Stig Olsen August 23, 2016 Share August 23, 2016 The Avid operator can use MXF OP-atom and I think that's the only MXF format suitable for a fast workflow. The files can be read natively directly from the Avid MediaFiles folder, so no need for consolidating and transcoding.
Andy Minuth August 24, 2016 Share August 24, 2016 OP-Atom means every essence (Video-Tracks, Audio-Tracks, etc.) is in a separate file - Atoms. This is the lowest level of MXF. OP1a supports several tracks muxed into one file. As Stig pointed out already, Avid prefers OP-Atom.
Nicolas Hanson August 24, 2016 Author Share August 24, 2016 Thank you for sharing, I will go for MXF OP-atom then.
Bruno Mansi September 3, 2016 Share September 3, 2016 There's an interesting walk-through by Scott Freeman on the Avid site, which explains the whole Avid/Resolve roundtrip workflow, where he explains how to get the Resolve renders into Avid's MXF folders, and how to re-link them back to your sequence. Follow this link: http://www.avidblogs.com/how-to-roundtrip-davinci-resolve-to-avid-media-composer-tutorial/
