Cody Board October 19, 2017 Share October 19, 2017 (edited) Hey! I am currently editing and coloring a Christmas commercial for an e commerce business. During our shoot we used a Sony a7rii, and a Canon 5D Mark ii. Im currently trying to match the footage the best I can so I can begin to color properly. I used the sony's slog profile on the a7rii, and a neutral profile on the 5Dii. I have attached some stills of the two different cameras and their look straight out of camera. If anyone has suggestions, resources, or would like the files to mess with to try and help that'd be awesome! I should also mention I am editing everything in adobe premiere. Canon on top, Sony on bottom Thanks! Edited October 19, 2017 by Cody Board
Nicolas Hanson October 19, 2017 Share October 19, 2017 (edited) Start with matching the contrast levels and balance the shots to see how different they are. Then, come back with updated images, and I will help you. Edited October 19, 2017 by Nicolas Hanson
cameronrad October 20, 2017 Share October 20, 2017 Here's where I got with a quick go in Photoshop. PSD here: https://we.tl/VAGFqgRyTh
Virgil Edward October 22, 2017 Share October 22, 2017 Hi here's my take on this: I fixed the contrast first, added saturation, fixed the hues, windowed their faces to fix color inconsistencies, brought back details in the highlights, and fixed red saturation. Nicolas Hanson October 22, 2017 Share October 22, 2017 It looks like the two shots are matching up good now. Use the gallery wipe and scope to compare hue and luminance level. I don't think you need to complicate your node tree that much. You could do this corrections in less nodes, using the hue vs sat/hue to control the reds is an example. No need for a parallel node here.

All the neutral picture style really is, is a tone curve + hue/sat. I used an slog to srgb lut, followed by an s-curve, followed by hue/sat layer in my PSD. Those should be easy to copy in any other application.
Olga Sunny October 28, 2017 Share October 28, 2017 You can make matching with 3D Lut Creator https://3dlutcreator.com/ . Details in this video tutorial

Details in this video tutorial Unfortunately that assumes one has colorchecker references available, unless they generated the matching LUT beforehand. I believe ACES goal with camera IDTs is to solve that standardization issue. OP could try a couple OCIO transforms. For instance a transform like this > followed by a balancing a adjustment > followed by a cineon to srgb/rec709 transform
