Tom Evans December 18, 2017 Share December 18, 2017 Do you know if it is possible to apply grain to spesific luma ranges to mimic how it behaved on film?
Dylan R. Hopkin December 18, 2017 Share December 18, 2017 (edited) In Resolve Studio 14; ResolveFX Filmgrain. Advanced Controls In the Advanced Controls, the Shadow, Midtone, and Highlight Gain controls let you adjust the amount of grain that’s composited into each of these tonal regions of the image. I prefere adding grain with FilmConvert. Looks better than the Resolve FX grain. Edited December 18, 2017 by Dylan R. Hopkin 1
Tom Evans December 20, 2017 Author Share December 20, 2017 I'm familiar with Cinegrain, but I will have a look at FilmConvert too. And thanks for pointing at the advanced controls, I must have missed it!
Dylan R. Hopkin December 23, 2017 Share December 23, 2017 We have owned Cinegrain at our facility for a number of years. It definitely has its place, but FilmConvert is more practical, and just looks great for both feature films and TV drama.
