Virgil Edward December 23, 2017 Share December 23, 2017 How do you balance/grade using printer lights, and how do you do it in Resolve? This kind of workflow is very new to me, what my mentors taught me is to use LGG for balancing the image, but from the case studies I'm reading here, the authors almost always states that they balance the image by means of using the printer lights and log controls. I would very much love to learn from the experts here, I've been grading for almost 2 years and I know that there is so much to learn. Thanks! Abby Bader December 23, 2017 Share December 23, 2017 There are many inaccurate representations of printer points online, but this resource explains the concept very well. In DaVinci Resolve you can use the offset controls in the primary tab.
Virgil Edward December 23, 2017 Author Share December 23, 2017 How does using it not introduce tints in either the shadow or highlights when you either increase or decrease a channel? Thanks!
Jussi Rovanperä December 23, 2017 Share December 23, 2017 Printer points only work "correctly" on log footage, under a log-video transform. Usually printer points introduce a tint in the shadows when pushed far, because most log footage is not purely logarithmic in the shadows.
