  1. Hi everyone, I would like to check what is the mid gray value for the Blackmagic Film gen 5 value (log). I am making LUTs for a shoot and I want to be sure I set it properly. I have been following Current Kelly creative color science masterclasses and his documentation says 0.466. (mid Grey Cheatsheet_CKC) Blackmagic documentation says : “Blackmagic Film Generation 5 encodes 10.27 stops above 18% grey. Middle (18%) grey is mapped to 0.3835616438356165” you can find the doc once you have installed Resolve: C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackmagic Design\Blackmagic RAW\Blackmagic RAW SDK\Documentation What is the correct value? Do I not understand an important concept here? Something about the metric? I am not talking about 10 or 12bits scales. (I have been doing some tests with the 0.466 value and I have compared it with the Blackmagic Film Gen 5 Extended video LUT and it looked pretty good to me. I am sure I shot with the latest firmware, in GEN 5, and my project and raw files, I have shot myself with the latest camera firmware, are set up in GEN 5. I am building my LUTs in Fusion) Thank you very much. 🙂

    Masters of Color

I've worked as Colourist assistant on an ad for Steve Yedlin. I've learnt a lot really fast at that time! 🙂
  3. Looking great mate! I'll check if this is available in Australia.
  4. Hi Spencer, I've been doing color grading on a professional level for 6-8 years now. But I still think I can't say I am a senior. A decade sounds good but it will also depend on the quality of the experience you get with time and if you are doing the job full time. No clear answers here. There is so much to learn, Cheers,
  5. Hi François, I have found a panel last weekend but thank you very much for the offer. Regard,
  6. Hi everyone! I am selling my micro panel (Blackmagic Micro panel) because I have bought another panel. I have barely used it because I have been using the panel we have in the office. It is in excellent condition. 😊 Price is $1000 AUS (selling in Australia ONLY/Postage cost is not included) Original price was $1373 I still have the receipt. Contact: I am living in Sydney. postprod.clementbouchet@gmail.com https://www.clementbouchet.com/
  7. Hi everyone, Anyone selling a Tangent panel BUNDLE in Australia? I'm living in Sydney but I could buy it from anywhere in Australia. I have one at work but I would like to get one to work from home too. I have a Blackmagic micro panel but I can't use printer points with it. My email: postprod.clementbouchet@gmail.com https://www.clementbouchet.com/grade-reel Thank you.
  8. Hi Thomas, The box 'Automatically match master timeline is ticked so Resolve creates a master timeline for me. And the grade version is remote. (And sync master timeline to current frame is ticked in the user preferences) Cheers,
  9. Hi everyone, I'm using the Davinci Resolve for many years and I noticed it's missing a major "feature" that was in previous versions. (since version 14) When working in projects with a MASTER TIMELINE, I often grade within an AAF/XML timeline and render the master timeline. What's happening now is that when I'm in the AAF timeline, and I need to see the current clip in the MASTER timeline, I used to be able to just switch to it via the drop down over the record monitor. However, when I switch to the master timeline now, it just goes to the head of the master timeline instead of the selected clip. No sync between the playhead of the timeline I'm working in and the master timeline anymore. I have already ticked the box "Sync master timeline to current frame" in the user preferences (I've also tried to restart resolve or build a new project) It is happening since version 14. I have tried this on PC, mac and many computers. I really don't know what I'm missing. Thank you for your time and sorry for the grammar. Cheers,
  10. Are you tried to add monochromatic noise on your plates? It will help a lot for 8 bits renders. We do that all the time at my workplace.
