I really enjoyed SPOTLESS.

I am really waiting for the Baselight V5 Denoiser. Temporal Degrain is ok, but more like a hammer. Everything gets soft very fast. In some cases with really bad noise I use a very soft degrainer on the whole image. Then I key e.g. the shadows and use a second degrainer on it. Baselight might get very slow once you use it. Especially with two degrainers.

Thanks Tom :-)

Bleach bypass look
Andreas Brueckl replied to Nicolas Hanson's topic in Editing , Color grading & Finishing
I usually do a full grade first. Saturated, balanced,..normal stuff, not to contrasty though. Then on top I do the bleach bypass with something about 20% saturation and slightly more contrast done in curves. As last node or layer I can always blend it into my picture the way I want it. With this I preserve more natural colors and the skin tones still look human . -
Beauty retouching
Andreas Brueckl replied to Thomas Singh's topic in Editing , Color grading & Finishing
Thanks for posting Thomas. I made this tutorial almost 5 years ago. For sure there is new cool stuff in Scratch now that I'd use. I am actually looking forward to use Baselight 5.0 with the retouching, grid warper and frequency separation features. -
Trailer/Teaser grading
Andreas Brueckl replied to Andy Minuth's topic in Editing , Color grading & Finishing
Mostly I guess. I always have problems if the reflected light from the screen is so bright that I can see my seat neighbour in full daylight. Best statement I heard about that and I am still laughing: A TVC is like a street hooker that you pass with your car. She has 30sec. to make you hot and show what she has. But a movie is like a long night of love. -
Sorry, I meant for Handles go to VIEW and TIMELINE SORT, not SHOTS. Cheers

Trailer/Teaser grading
Andreas Brueckl replied to Andy Minuth's topic in Editing , Color grading & Finishing
Interesting topic. I can copy what Andy or Dyland wrote. Usually I grade trailers and teasers more like commercials, too. So more contrast and especially brighter. Mostly the customers want the trailer during or at the end of the feature film grading. Sometimes upfront if they are going to film marketes and try to sell the film. Then I push it even more towards a commercial. If during the grading, then I copy the already finished looks but it could be, that I totally change the grade. It also depends on the edit and how they assemble the shots. The looks from the movie sometimes don't work with different edits. So in some cases the trailer grade comes out very different from the movie. A trailer is a commercial for the film, so it needs the character of the film, but at the same time has to stand out and attract. It also depends on how fast the edit is. The faster, the less time for the eyes to adjust and so I am masking more and try to guide the viewer - like a commercial. cheers -
Hi Nikola for adding handles you have to go to VIEW then SHOTS and choose. I save the timeline as a renderversion before doing this. And go sure you choose SORT BY: timeline position if you want it in the right order as graded. Render: To choose your setting like Metadata and so on, click the little arrow on the left. It will give you all the options. Usually the debayer and decode setting is set in the timeline/shot. I never touch it in the render settings. For resolution choose USE Input Format to render your native resolution You can choose your timecode settings with Metadata To render DPX choose Sequences and for Filetype DPX. You can modify the output naming by adding e.g. %P or %L....just check the little question mark at numbering. Trick: If you choose the ACES-template when opening a new timeline/project you get all these templates in the render setting. Just choose from here and modify in case. Hope that helped.

Hi, Stig asked me to post my Baselight ACES tutorial here. So why not start an ACES thread and collect infos and artices and tutorials here. Here is mine:
