Thanks for your reply Margus. The producer is hesitant to deviate from the norm as there is no real understanding of color management yet among the artists involved. What are the arguments for using ACES for animation when delivering in SDR?

I have a question regarding the color pipeline for an animation feature. Is there a standard color pipeline for these kind of productions? Currently I am considering keeping everything in Rec709 Gamma 2.4 as this is the standard colorspace in the tools the animators and compositors are using. Obviously a limited colorspace however we’ll be working in 16bit. I don’t want to overcomplicate the workflow as there are 3 different studios working in different countries. There are a dozen different creation tools in use such as Maya, Photoshop, After Effects and eventually I’ll be finishing in Resolve. Delivery will be in SDR for internet, TV & cinema.
